Throwing out your current computer is a radical and costly decision. (in fact I even found that the graphic card PCI is correctly initialized, so you just really need the line for the bridge). You just need to find the good numbers to put in those lines, that is finding what is the PCI address of the graphic card and the bridge to it. I dont know what the problem with the MBP 8,2 is, but if it's similar you can easily adapt the solution. It's simple, you just have to add two lines to /etc/grub.d/40_custom (better than in /etc/grub.d/01_enable_vga.conf as done in the link provided) then "sudo update-grub". EDIT : The MBP 8,2 does not seem to have the same problems as the 7,1.
